After a poison attack, the racehorse Cagliostro is hidden at the Immenhof horse farm. When Lou notices that he is no longer safe there either, she runs away with him in the night. They hide near Cal, who lives with a herd of half-wild horses on the edge of civilization. Lou promises the stallion that he will never have to race again.
