After Bertolt Brecht’s “Threepenny Opera” is a huge success in 1928 in Berlin, cinema wants the author to turn it into a film. But Brecht and his production company have very different interests: Brecht has a real creative vision, the production company wants to make money. While the film and its central conflict begin to take shape, Brecht dares unleash an unprecedented conflict of his own: he takes the producers to court over their undermining of the author’s rights for financial gain.
