War rages in Ukraine. A young man is sent to the frontline with his platoon. A lonely post in the flatness of the land. A casemate and a cannon, nothing more. At night, they hear a woman scream. The young man saves her. He takes her back to the orphanage she wants to return to. An attack, armed men storm the house, murder and set fires. The young man escapes with a child rescued from the flames. Back with his comrades he keeps the child with him until their replacement arrives. The child never speaks, he follows the young man everywhere. But the young man must leave again. So, the child waits for him. He looks for the young man in every group that returns from the front. He prays for his safety, to prevent him from dying.
